Japanese manga turned anime, No Guns Life Season 1 released with a bang in October 2019 by Madhouse. Since then, there has been an upheaval in the Sci-Fi genre. Categorized in the subgenre of cybernetics dystopia combined with a classic detective film noir, this series is aesthetically pleasing by its dark-themed animation.
The story revolves around the protagonist, Juzo Inui aka The Gun Head Man. As the name implies, yes astoundingly he has a gun for his head. He is an ex-soldier going through post-war trauma after his time served during the great war. Currently, he is a private detective (resolver) working in the slums in a dystopian city post-war, taking on cases having to do with the extended; i.e. someone having cybernetic implants of some form. The plot of the show explains the beginning of his life getting embroiled in a massive conspiracy being carried out by Beruhren Corp.
Fun Fact: Juzo has to smoke cigarettes in order to maintain his body.
Having so many archetypal characters to the boot, this show rapidly became one of the most bad-ass yet entertaining series of the decade. Seriously though, even the antagonists have a lot of heavy themes like, say, Kronen Von Wolf. You can have a look at all the distinct characters intro, here.
