O site Deadline released the first promotional image for the live-action adaptation of ‘Red Sonja‘, which shows the actress Matilda Lutz (‘Revenge’) featured as the titular heroine.
The feature is based on the homonymous comics signed by Roy Thomas e Barry Windsor-Smithas well as the character created by Robert E. Howard.
M.J. Bassett (‘Solomon Kane’) is in charge of the direction, from a script signed by Joey Soloway e Tasha Huo.
The cast will still have Wallis Day, Robert Sheehan, Michael Bisping, Martyn Ford, Eliza Matengu, Manal El-Feitury, Katrina Durden e Oliver Trevena.
For those who don’t know, Red Sonja appeared for the first time in the HQ ‘Conan the Barbarian’ #23launched in 1973.
Portrayed as a barbarian warrior, she gained warrior skills after meeting a goddess, who took pity on her after Red Sonja’s family was murdered.
However, Sonja’s abilities could disappear if she was touched by any man except the one who defeated her in battle.
In 1985, the heroine, who has already been played by Brigitte Nielsen in the adaptation of directed by Richard Fleischer.
At the moment, ‘Red Sonja‘ is published by Dynamite Comics.
