Produced by Toei Animation, Dragon Ball Super Season 1 first aired on Fuji Tv in Japan on the 5th of July 2015, and the manga written by Akira Toriyama released two weeks prior to that. Having a total of 131 aired episodes ended in March 2018. After which, Dragon Ball Super: Broly movie premiered in theaters in December 2018, becoming a box office hit for the Shonen Jump Action franchise.

Dragon Ball Super Season 1 has the following plot outline according to Wikipedia.


After waking up from decades of slumber, Beerus, the god of destruction, wants to defeat Goku, the Super Saiyan God, whom he had seen in his sleep. Having defeated Manji Buu, Goku is getting bored with his life on Earth. His wife, Chi-chi, wants him to get a job, but all he wants to do is train and fight stronger enemies. Elsewhere in the universe, the God of Destruction, Beerus, and his attendant Whis are traveling from planet to planet in search of food and entertainment. The God of Destruction sets his sights on Earth to track down this mysterious man! Maybe this will give Goku something to do?

Dragon Ball Super Season 1 tentatively ended at Volume 9, Chapter 44 titled “Battle’s End and Aftermath” in the manga. So as they have new content, they might start the pre-production for the anime. Also, Toei Animation and Funimation want the subbed and dubbed episodes to air together. The Dragon Ball Super dubbed episodes ended in October- November 2019.
